I come to the children's book world with a background of painting, teaching, and theater (not to mention parenthood).  I seek to capture the beauty of the world through the whimsical innocence and humor of a child's eyes.  I am inspired by the work of Jacek Yerka, Henri Rousseau, Maxfield Parrish, and Chris Van Allsburg.  I love complexity hidden in sublime simplicity! (And lovely, ridiculous dry humor.)  I love playing with light, color and expression particularly on animals and I strive to create animal characters that capture human emotion without loosing their realism.  I am excited for any opportunity to enliven and enrich the written word with my illustrations.
